Lightware is adding serious value to its MX2 matrix switchers with a firmware update that unlocks 5K resolution support: no hardware modifications needed. Starting from now on, integrators can boost performance simply by applying the latest firmware. The update enables MX2 devices to handle 5120×2160 resolution via HDMI 2.0 (30Hz 4:4:4 or 60Hz 4:2:0) and DisplayPort 1.2 (30Hz 4:4:4). Existing MX2 units in the field are already compatible, so there's no need to revisit your rack with a screwdriver or re-cable anything. This makes MX2 Lightware’s first product line to offer 5K switching.
