Sony Electronics showcased their innovations at NAB Show 2026 in Las Vegas
The company focused on live production, news production, imaging, and virtual production, demonstrating the latest technologies designed to address emerging challenges and needs in broadcast and production.
Sony presented its new ‘R Series’ system camera lineup, which builds on the strengths of the existing HDC‑5000 and HDC‑3000 series while significantly enhancing image performance, system expandability through additional transmission pathways and infrastructure options, and usability that enables consistent color matching across models. Additionally, the new series will address challenging lighting conditions by offering an expanded dynamic range for enhanced details, and operation modes to address different lighting environments. Models include HDC‑5500R, HDC‑5500RV, HDC‑3500R, HDC‑3500RV, and HDC‑3200R, along with related products such as the HDCU‑3500R Camera Control Unit and the HKCU‑LUT35 3D LUT option board. The models are planned to be available summer 2026.
Sony also launched a significant firmware update for the Sony FX6 with the release of firmware V6.0. This upgrade introduces some highly requested features specifically for professional filmmakers. Firmware V6.0 delivers an extensive set of improvements, including a home screen (BIG6) where you can easily review the shooting settings and equipment configurations when shooting movies. With this release, Sony continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting its professional user base. Even after being on the market for six years, the FX6 remains relevant, proving that reliability and innovation can go hand in hand.
